I HAVE seen many stupid people do this, HOWEVER, I would not recommend it, Even if you have on a personal flotation device. At least not this section of the river. Stick to the …

I HAVE seen many stupid people do this, HOWEVER, I would not recommend it, Even if you have on a personal flotation device. At least not this section of the river. Stick to the lower areas, like sunrise to hoffman park and such. If you really want to go down the south fork, use large raft and a GUIDE.

If you stick between Coloma, the state park, and either the Lotus Park, or Camp Lotus, these kids should be safe enough in an inflatable kayak, as long as a knowledgeable, responsible adult was supervising... Of course, all of our family adults have had some experience guiding this river. And ALWAYS use appropriate safety equipment, life jackets, river shoes to protect the feet, and safety talks about how to float without the boat...
