We stopped at the Agawa Bay Visitor Center on our trip from Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa. After using the clean restrooms and viewing the Bear skeleton, we perused their museum. Here we learned about the… Full review by Gene R J

True the highway is noisy, but the beach is lovely. However, our entire trip was ruined by jerks who went wild. Their kids ran wild and they drank all night long. The ranger came by at 1030 pm and t… Full review by Chantell M

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has hiked the 65km Lake Superior trail during the month of May. What was the weather temperature like during the day and night? Is the trail even open in May to hike? The park is now closed so I can’t get any information from them. Thanks in advance. Ryan

I am not sure you realize how cold it can be in May that far north. Of course the other problem, if you wait until June when the days warm up, the black flies are bad. I recommend that you call the park office and get their advice on an ambitious hike that you are considering.

Hi there, I’m planning on hiking the 65km trail in sept. What’s are people recommending for hiking boots, backpacking boot or a day hiking boot? I’ll be carrying a loaded pack for 4 days. Thank you

Get a top quality ankle high hiking boot and don't go on the cheap side - buy a reputable brand. The type of boot often depends on the terrain. Mountain and rock climbing, or even rocky trails require a thick stiff sole. Normal trails require more of a strong running shoe ankle high style that are lighter weight and have some flex in the sole - but not too much flex. If there is mud and water a full height boot may be desirable, especially if its not hot outside. The sole should not be a hard Vibram material, but rather a moderately thick durable rubber type material that has some grip. Waterproof a must, durable exterior, rubber toe cap. Do not get too thin of a sole. Also important is a fairly thick wool or bamboo sock - take with you to try on the boots for sizing and take a spare pair on your trip. Changing socks part way through your day is a pleasure you would never have expected. Dry them a night. Happy trails.

At Agawa Bay, check the map on the reservation page which has campsite photos to help. There are two loops, the northern/hydro loop has electricity. The better sites are closer to Lake Superior for the views. Just get as far from hwy 17 as possible bc of the noise. Bring a very long (100’+) extension cord. If you can go without power, I’d recommend it and find a spot on the south loop which has a little more trees and Is a lot more quiet. Next to the water preferred.
