It is free to tour. The following are excerpts from their website: 1. Tours begin in the State House Annex. 2. All tours are offered free of charge. 3. Self-guided tours are not available. Staff and volunteer tour guides escort visitors through the building, explaining its history, art and architecture, and the legislative process 4. Reservations are not needed for groups with fewer than 10 people 5. Tours are offered Monday through Friday on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, on the hour from noon to 3 p.m. All tours begin in the State House Annex.

I spent maybe 45 mins to an hour. But you can break off when you like or simply walk around yourself. Tour is worth it for information. No extra charge I remember.

Gosh, these choices are difficult. Depends on your own preferences. If you are more a historian than a baseball person, then it has to be the Statehouse. If you are more a sportsman or more particularly a baseball person, then Fenway. If you are a Sox fan, then there is certainly only one answer! The statehouse tour can be done in 90 minutes, including commute time. Fenway will doubtless take longer. My guess is 2-2.5 hours for the park tour including commute time. Good luck!
