This NYC landmark has finally re-opened after safety net installation, just in time for the NYC Marathon 2024 event. All NYC Marathoners got a free ticket by showing bibs or medals. Otherwise, ticket… Full review by manopsi

You can’t walk around on all sides like it seems from the photos. Over half of the stairwells are fenced off, so you can only get to the top on one side. I was disappointed as I was looking forward t… Full review by Guttermoon

When we visited the "vessel" in mid November we did not pre book and as you will note from my review I do not carry a mobile cellphone so instead of obtaining a ticket from the distribution post along side the "vessel" was taken by a security chap to the fourth floor desk where I was given two tickets. I did not have to wait and in answer to another question yes there is an elevator but it takes just six people and only goes once evry fifteen minutes so if there is a queue there may be a long waiting time. I suggest walking up if possible.

You can check the Hudson Yards website for free reservations. I recommend that you try to book it in advance if you have a particular time/day you'd like go. Otherwise, it can be hit or miss as to how crowded it is and whether you'll be able to get free tickets if you show up and use the kiosks at the Vessel. (The "Flexipass" is the one that costs $10, so if you are looking for free viewing--and no reason not to--then don't choose the Flexipass.)
My family will be visiting in a few days. Do we have to reserve tickets in advance? What is the best time to visit – in the morning, or in the evening?

You can reserve tickets for a time in advance but you have to do at least 2 weeks in advance. When we went 2 weeks ago, we got there around 3:30 in the afternoon on a Monday and used the kiosk. It shows the available times to enter. We had to wait until 5 so we visited the nearby mall and had drinks until then. Worth the wait. There seemed to be plenty of people milling around waiting for their time to arrive.
