How hard would the hike be for an out of shape overweight person that still loves to hike?

It’s definitely doable I am not a big hiker and some places are a little tougher but I made it just download a map as there are a couple of tricky spots
Are there two ways to drive the road to the trail start? We attempted from the south yesterday entering from CR 5 (bypassing cave mountain Rd by mistake). We are in a Toyota Prius C so needless to say got about 20 ft into the potholes and decided against any further attempts. Does cave mountain Rd bypass the potholes entirely? Does the north entrance on hwy 5 have severe potholes like the entrance from the south? We were going to attempt a retry tomorrow on our way home to Louisiana.

To clarify.. we mistakenly went from hwy 16 to co Rd 3605 that took an extremely sharp turn into Madison 3500 or co Rd 404.. which then would have continued into co Rd 5 (cave mountain).. just hoping if we get on cave mt, though it's steep and gravel, it may be without the huge stone potholes .. they were scraping our undercarriage
