A man who injured a flight attendant while trying to open the door of a plane on a flight from Milwaukee to Dallas earlier this month has been charged.

An unruly passenger accused of trying to force open a plane door and injuring an attendant mid-flight last week – prompting fellow passengers to duct-tape him – has been charged in federal court, a federal prosecutor’s office said.

Witnesses heard the man tell a flight attendant that he was "captain of this flight" and needed to "get off the plane," a complaint says.

The man who tried to open a door on an American Airlines flight to Dallas last week will face the consequences in federal court. 29-year-old Abdul-al-Jabbar Olaiya has been charged with interfering with a flight crew by assault or intimidation.
