Is it a foregone conclusion that Marta will return to Orlando or could another team, or retirement be in her future?

Orlando has gone from being told nobody respected them to a title-winning team everyone admires (or, at least, envies).

Orlando's win gave Brazilian star Marta her first NWSL title. The 38-year-old Marta, considered arguably the greatest female soccer player of all time, joined the Orlando Pride in 2017 but had never reached an NWSL championship game until this year.

Brazilian soccer legend Marta scored an incredible solo goal to guide the Orlando Pride to their first National Women’s Soccer League championship game.

There was a moment in the 2024 NWSL semifinal when Barbra Banda was receiving treatment, and the cameras zoomed in on a set of water bottles. One of them had a tape label with a bold “MARTA’S” on one side.

Barbra Banda scored the only goal of Orlando's win in the 37th minute. Marta, one of women's soccer's all-time greats, has played for the Pride since 2017.

In a season full of worthy contenders, it was the league leader Orlando Pride who took home the top prize. Forward Barbra Banda, who has led the team for much of the season, scored the game’s lone goal.
