Overall I much preferred the Rainbow Roadtrip movie - both for the positive and fun story ( the Princesses overpowered by world ending villain that's easily defeated at the last moment by sheer luck thing is a bit overdone, so I was glad to get something more like an extended episode from the show ), and for how well they handled the Mane Six.

When I watched the MLP movie, I thought it was alright, but there were a couple of things I noticed that were hard to ignore. There were a few plot holes (Twilight didn't teleport to make the journey shorter; no explanation for lack of Discord; etc.) and some characters didn't get enough time to shine (Applejack; Fluttershy; Storm King).
