Sep 8, 2019 · For drag racing, ideally you would want the driveshaft/driveline to be straight with maximum weight transfer onto the rear suspension. So you could guess this by using a "string line" and allowing about 2"-3" of suspension compression. But don't overthink it.

Sep 22, 2013 · You don't want the engine forward, as this lightens up the rear, and the higher HP your engine is, the more weight you want towards the rear to make sure it doesn't just spin the tires constantly. The front engine mount you're looking for is a "Hurst" style mount.

Sep 12, 2014 · The Hurst mount may bolt onto the front mount bosses of the sbc, but it actually mounts to the side of the frame, not to the front of the frame crossmember like in 55-57, so your torsional load is displaced to the side rails. People forget this fact. With the Hurst mount and a rear tranny mount, you don't need the mid mount of the original tranny.
