Mar 10, 2015 · Peaking is when the vertical shell weld or weld joint is not properly fitted and it makes a peak at the joint. Sometimes this is caused because the shell plate wasn't properly rolled. The radius of the tank in that area will not be correct.

Feb 27, 2011 · Peaking and banding talks about local deviations in vertical and horizantal weld joints, and it clearley states that peaking and banding shall not exceed 13mm, so upto and including 13mm is accepted.
