So you can save pokemon to transfer during x2 transfer candy spotlight hours, rare research rewards to catch during x2 catch candy spotlight hours, research encounters that give extra dust (like Delibird) for x2 catch stardust hours, or cheap evolutions like Caterpie/Weedle/Pidgey for x2 evolve XP hours.

If the comm day/spotlight hour pokemon is receiving a weather boost the pokemon it turns into must also be boosted by the weather, otherwise it will reroll and likely won't be shiny. Oct 24, 2023 · You’re spot on, I think a lot of people are confused by this. Community days have boosted shiny rates, and last 3 hours, so most people who play for the duration will encounter at least a few. Whereas spotlight hour is only one hour, and doesn’t have boosted shinies, so people definitely feel cheated when they don’t get a shiny.
I think Commday odds were active for Trubbish Spotlight hour
Central Europe (so the spotlight hour ended 2 h ago) I looked at something around 100 Trubbish and got zero shinies. Was going to report that the odds were "fixed" but apparently they weren't and now I'm salty about RNG lol.

The 2x Evolution XP bonus, however, makes zero sense for a Spotlight Hour because activating the bonus literally prevents you from catching any Pokemon for the ~30 seconds it takes you to select, evolve, and exit back out to the main screen. Maybe the idea is to spend some of the Spotlight catching (for Candy) and then the rest of time evolving?
