Aug 5, 2021 · Update: Today I have completely disconnected my network (removed all my ethernet ports and all) and hooked back in the Starlink Router (none of my home networking devices connect to the Starlink router at all). Aug 6, 2022 · Currently Starlink operates in "bent pipe", with the satellites forwarding customer traffic directly to/from a few ground gateway stations, where it then proceeds on fiber, probably mostly Tier 2. Starlink's inter-satellite laser links (coming online now) will provide Starlink with its own global backbone, making it more of a Tier 1 ISP.

Apr 25, 2022 · Pick up a phone and you have a dial tone. Dial and the call goes through like we're all used to. There is just a very slight delay like you experience when talking on a cell phone. Ported my house number to it and have been very pleased. Was a bit of a cost up front to buy the device and port my number, but now my "phone bill" is just 6.49 a month!

Jan 5, 2022 · I am using VoIP from 8x8 on a Polycom phone for business, I use my cell phone over wifi and I use skype to talk to people in Europe. All work fine, the cell works better on wifi/Starlink than with the cell carrier directly. No issues with CGNAT and using my own router not the Starlink one.

If you do have trees within the app’s obstruction viewer, calls will be very unreliable and frequently drop. Sadly I still have to walk up a hill to get proper cell service for calls where I am because Starlink disconnects so often.

In my area, internet service is almost entirely provided by GEO satellite. Here and there are a few WISP and dial-up subscribers. Due to the lack of mobile phone signals in my area, I have neighbors who still rely upon POTS, or use a dummy phone, as there is little point in buying a fancy smart phone that doesn't work well at home.

We pay less than $10/month for total service, paid annually. They all have online portals for tweaking your service too. All Voips offer similar services, everything you mentioned and more.
