Quarter 1947-1964 = 6.250 g +/- 0.194 g (900 Ag 100 Cu) Weight of Clad quarter 1965 – to present = 5.670 g +/- 0.227 g (75 Cu, 25 Ni on pure Cu)

Nov 12, 2013 · I got this quarter a few yrs ago... Among other things, - It looks to be a slightly off center w/ some splitting at the rim. - There is either doubling or extra metal around his eye - There is extra metal at the base of his neck that continues to the end of the bow (from split rim?)

However, the Mints experimented with different types (composition) of planchets when they were trying to come up with a planchet to use for the Sacagawea Dollars and they struck some of the planchets with 1999 State Quarter Dies (a few 2000 State Quarters were found as well).

Very nice multi-struck 2005 West Virginia state quarter. Seller counts 7 strucks, making it very rare. West Virginia state quarter itself is a rare year for errors. First struck normal, with 2nd-6th strucks a bit off-center.
